Product Details

Ernest Hemingway's novel "For Whom the Bell Tolls" centers on Robert Jordon, an American fighting alongside the Republican Guerrillas during the Spanish Civil War. Consistent with Hemingway's hatred of war, the novel dwells on the brutality and agony suffered by ordinary people when armed conflict erupts. Hemingway shifts Jordon's motivation from do-gooder to hero when Jordon meets Maria, a young Spanish woman who witnessed the execution of her parents. Maria inspired in Jordon bravery, perseverance, ingenuity and wisdom.

We've named these enhanced oval pewter eyeglass frames "Tolls" in honor of this fine book. Like Hemingway's novel, these frames are embellished with nuanced details such as the Spanish detailing on the temples and bridge.
